Creative Christmas Journaling Ideas + Free Printable Junk Journal Pages

If you’re anything like me, you probably love the idea of slowing down a little during the festive season – taking some time to create, reflect, and make something beautiful. But between all the busyness of November and December, it’s easy for journaling or creative projects to slip down the list.

That’s exactly why I’ve put together a collection of Christmas printables to make festive journaling and crafting simple, fun, and inspiring this year – whether you’re working on a junk journal, Christmas folio, Advent calendar, mini BlendBook, or even decorating a few pages in your planner.

To help you get started, I’ve added a little gift to this post – a set of two free printable Christmas Junk Journal pages you can download from The Planner Lovers Resource Library (or grab directly if you’re a Patreon member). They’re a lovely way to start building your Christmas journal, folio, or mini BlendBook right away.

Christmas Printables to Spark Your Creativity

I’ve created a few coordinating Christmas printable kits to make festive journaling and crafting simple and inspiring. Each kit can be used on its own, or you can mix and match them to create something truly unique.

Use them to make junk journals, mini BlendBooks, Christmas cards, gift tags, or Advent calendars. Every kit works beautifully with the others, so you can combine pieces in endless ways. Together, they offer plenty of flexibility for your creative Christmas journaling and crafting.

Christmas Junk Journal Pages

🎄 Classic Christmas charm — vintage-style pages for cozy festive journaling.
🦌 Soft pink tones and playful reindeer — a whimsical twist on Christmas journaling.

Two full sets of vintage-style printable pages, each with its own festive personality – perfect for creating your Christmas junk journal or adding cozy backgrounds to your spreads. The first collection, Night Before Christmas, features traditional Christmas tones and nostalgic charm, while the Pink Reindeer set offers a softer, more whimsical palette in gentle pink hues with a playful vintage feel.

Both sets are ideal for layering papers, trimming into tags, or combining with pockets and fussy cuts to create heartfelt, handmade pages filled with festive cheer.

Christmas Junk Journal Folio Kit

Build your own interactive Christmas folio — layer pockets, cards, and keepsakes for a festive handmade treasure.

This interactive folio kit includes a printable folio base plus mix-and-match pockets, cards, and inserts you can assemble to create your own festive folio. Each element is designed to layer, fold, and tuck together easily, giving you endless options for decorating and personalizing your pages.

You can fill your folio with journaling cards, photos, or little keepsakes from the season – like gift tags, recipes, or handwritten notes – to create a meaningful record of your Christmas memories. It also makes a beautiful handmade gift, especially when filled with thoughtful extras such as tea bags, stickers, or small treats.

Whether you use it as a stand-alone project or combine it with the Christmas pages and fussy cuts, it’s a lovely way to slow down, craft, and add a bit of vintage charm to your festive season.

Christmas Advent Journal Numbers

Printable number circles (1–31) in festive red, green, and black – each featuring a vintage typewriter-style font for timeless charm. They’re perfect for adding dates to your Advent calendar, December journaling spreads, or Mini BlendBook pages, and are a lovely way to number daily prompts or mark special memories throughout the month.

The set includes PDF and JPG sheets for easy printing, plus transparent PNG files ready to use with your Cricut cutting machine. You can print them onto sticker paper or lightweight cardstock, then cut them out to use as labels, embellishments, or countdown markers in all your Christmas crafts.

Christmas Word Strips & Fussy Cuts

This printable set is packed with festive words, phrases, and coordinating fussy cuts – including Santa, reindeer, candy canes, christmas tree, presents, and more. The word strips feature a mix of uplifting and nostalgic Christmas sayings in several coordinating colorways, making it easy to find just the right tone for your page or project.

The set comes as high-quality PDF and JPG sheets ready to print at home on your choice of paper – regular, sticker paper, or lightweight cardstock. Cut them out by hand and layer them onto journal pages, folios, handmade cards, tags, or Christmas collages to add texture and personality.

These pieces are a quick and easy way to bring warmth and charm to your Christmas journaling, whether you’re filling a folio, decorating a Mini BlendBook, or crafting festive pages in your Bullet Journal.

How I Use These Printables

I’ve been using these kits in lots of creative ways this season, and one of my favourite projects has been making small folio-style junk journals. I print the Folio Kit at 100% onto lightweight cardstock and the Junk Journal Pages at around 70%. Then I hand-stitch the pages into the folio using embroidery thread – a simple process that adds such a lovely handmade touch.

I hand-stitch the pages into a folio base, and embellish with pockets, word strips, and epehmera.

folio-style junk journal

I love decorating my folios with pockets, word strips, and fussy cuts, layering little details here and there until the pages feel full of festive charm. On the inside cover, I’ve added a pocket filled with Christmas ephemera and fussy cuts, and attached a few of my favorite word strips for that extra touch of personality. Stitching the pages into the folio with embroidery thread gives it a lovely handmade feel, and the filled pocket makes a beautiful first impression when you open it up.

Festive word strips easily bring pages to life!

Inside, each double-page spread becomes its own little story. I’ve used word strips and small festive cutouts to bring the pages to life, mixing in journaling spots and bits of patterned paper for texture. The layers of paper, tags, and images make it easy to keep adding as the month goes on – notes, photos, or small mementos from the season – turning it into a growing keepsake of December memories.

I love tucking fussy cuts and epehemera into little pockets!

On the back inside cover, I’ve added another pocket filled with extra fussy cuts and journaling cards, ready to use as the pages evolve. These little folios make such a beautiful alternative to a traditional Christmas card – they can be filled with festive tea bags, stickers, or thoughtful notes, or simply used to hold the special pieces of your Christmas story. Each one becomes a tiny treasure you can revisit year after year.

christmas tea-filled folio

I’ve been making a few tea-filled Christmas folios to give to friends and family.
I love how these tea-filled folios fold up into little envelopes – simple, festive, and perfect for gifting!

To make my tea-filled Christmas folio, I printed the Christmas Folio Kit at 100% onto lightweight cardstock and added three of the pockets from the set. I kept the pocket tabs on to make them a little deeper – perfect for holding thicker items like tea bags. Then I decorated each pocket using Christmas Words + Fussy Cuts, layering the word strips and little festive pieces for a cozy, handmade look. Finally, I tucked an individually wrapped herbal tea bag into each pocket, along with a few extra fussy cuts, and folded the folio into a sweet little envelope ready for gifting!

christmas mini blendbook

I also love using the fussy cuts, word strips, pages, and pockets in different combinations to create a Christmas Mini BlendBook, handmade Christmas cards and gift tags, and even decorated pages in my Daily BlendBook. It’s such a fun, relaxing way to bring festive creativity into everyday journaling.

If you’re curious about what a Mini BlendBook is, it’s a small, creative journal where I combine writing, collage, and papercraft in an easy, mindful way. You can find out more about it in this post.
