Currently Lists for Journaling: Easy Prompts to Reflect and Capture Everyday Moments

There’s something so simple and comforting about a Currently list.

It’s one of those journaling practices that doesn’t ask much of you – no long writing sessions, no pressure to find the “right” words – just a little pause to notice what’s happening in your life right now.

It’s a flexible practice I come back to again and again.

Why I love a Currently list

A Currently list is such an easy way to reflect without overthinking.

Instead of staring at a blank page, you’re simply filling in little snapshots:

  • what you’re noticing
  • what you’re enjoying
  • what you’re working on
  • what you’re feeling grateful for

It’s a soft structure that guides you, while still leaving plenty of space to make it your own.

Lists have always been a really important part of how I stay in a journaling flow.

Within Journablend and The Blend Flow, the List step is often the easiest place to begin. It’s simple and structured, and it removes that feeling of not knowing what to write.

A Currently list is one of my favorite ways to use this step. It offers just enough direction to get you started, while still allowing your thoughts to unfold naturally.

On busy days, or when your mind feels full, it’s a simple way to stay connected to your journal without needing a lot of time or energy.

Capturing the little moments

What I love most is how these lists quietly capture the little, everyday moments.

Not the big milestones, but the small things:

  • the cup of tea you’re enjoying lately
  • something you’re looking forward to
  • a thought that’s been sitting with you
  • a tiny shift in how you’re feeling

These are often the things we forget, but they’re also the things that make up our days.

When you look back on a Currently list weeks or months later, it becomes a beautiful snapshot of a moment in time that is simple, honest, and real.

A gentle way to slow down

There’s also something inherently mindful about it.

Taking a few minutes to pause and ask yourself:
What am I noticing right now? What am I enjoying? What do I need more of?

It brings you back into the present in a quiet, natural way.

Nothing complicated – just a small check-in.

In many ways, a Currently list is a perfect example of the List step in The Blend Flow.

It’s simple, repeatable, and something you can return to again and again. And once you’ve written your list, you can choose to leave it as it is, or gently build on it – adding a little creativity, layering, or visual elements if you feel like it.

The Currently prompts

If you’d like a simple place to begin, here are some of the prompts I’ve been using lately.

You can write them as a quick list, expand on a few of them, or just pick the ones that feel right in the moment.

Currently…

  • noticing
  • savoring
  • finding joy in
  • feeling grateful for

  • simplifying

  • watching
  • drinking
  • craving
  • enjoying
  • making

There’s no right way to fill these in – some days you might write a word or two, other days a full sentence.

It’s really just about capturing a small snapshot of where you are, right now.

Turning it into something creative

While a Currently list works beautifully written straight into your journal, I also love turning it into something a little more visual and tactile.

At the heart of it, this is really about keeping journaling gentle and sustainable.

Not something you feel like you should do, but something you can easily come back to – even on the busiest days.
